You can do it. One minute at a time. Don’t try to do the whole class. Just one round. Not even the whole round. Just one minute of that round. Just one punch at a time. One kick. One crunch. One throw. One push up, or sit up or one more moment of wall sit. Focus. Determination. Attitude. You can do it, one piece at a time. No one can do it all, but anyone can do one step. So just do one step. Then another. Then one more. If he wants speed, keep it steady. Go at a speed that feels comfortable. Then go one tiny bit more. Then another bit more. Push. Show yourself what you can do. If you can do this, you can do anything. After one of Coach Wolf’s circuits, what else could life possibly throw at you? If he wants power, take that extra moment to center, then give it everything. Technique. Form. Power. Focus. Control. Dig deep and bring it out. Give it all. Why hold back? What are you saving it for? If you are not going to use it here, then where will you? You are only cheating yourself by not giving it your all. No one else is hurt. No one else cares. If you want to walk during warm-ups, who cares? But if you don’t need to walk, why would you? Don’t stop because you want to. Stop because you have absolutely nothing at all else to give. It’s all gone. Totally and completely. Tomorrow is Thursday. It will hurt. Expect it. Be ready. Prepare to do battle. Know going in that this one will be uphill all the way. Know that you don’t have to do it all. You only need to do the next thing. One thing. One punch. One kick. One jump. One throw. Do just this one move. Then you will do the next one. Then the one after that. Time will continue to move. You can spend that time struggling and worrying about what might come next or you can spend that time fighting. Before you know it, you have met your goal. As with life. Don’t take on the rest of the month, the rest of the week, or the rest of the day. Just do the first thing. Then the next. Then the next.
I am strong. I have power. I will succeed. I will survive Thursday night. I will not quit. I will not give up. I have support. I can do it.
